Rep. Veasey Preps Oak Cliff Parks for Outdoor Summer Activities

May 28, 2015

Will work alongside staff at Dallas Parks and Recreation as part of his “Marc Means Business” Work Day

Dallas, TX—On Friday, May 29, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will roll up his sleeves alongside the staff of Dallas Parks and Recreation as they prep Oak Cliff Parks for a summer of outdoor activities. As a strong advocate for health and fitness, Congressman Veasey will assist in painting handrails, maintaining park fountains and landscaping, and performing graffiti sweeps to keep Dallas' parks in top condition for the community to enjoy for exercise and leisure.

Since March 2014, Veasey has spent a day each month working at a different job in his district. He has delivered beverages with Ben E. Keith Company, worked as a grocery bagger at Kroger, and worked the assembly line at Lasko Products. The Marc Means Business series connects Veasey with constituents at their place of employment to better understand the challenges they face in their work and daily lives.

Established in 1876, the Dallas parks system is one of the largest municipal parks systems in the nation with over 21,000 park land acres which encompass 381 parks, 13 lakes, 4,400 surface acres of water and 125 developed trail miles.
