Rep. Veasey Launches First Annual STEM Student App Challenge

Encourages CD33 High school students to exhibit their ‘tech prowess’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, invites local high school students in the Metroplex to participate in the first annual congressional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) academic competition, the House Student App Challenge. This competition is a nationwide event that showcases all participating congressional districts high school student's ingenuity in creating a software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

"I am proud to announce the STEM Student App Challenge that encourages our youth to demonstrate their tech prowess, re-establishes that jobs in the STEM fields are fun, and inspires our youth to thrive in today's global market." said Congressman Veasey.

The House Student App Challenge is open to all high school students who live in or are eligible to attend public schools located in the 33rd Congressional District. Students entering the competition must provide a YouTube or VIMEO video demo explaining their app and what they learned through the competition process. Competition submission period ends on April 30, 2014.
