May 2, 2019

Dallas, TX – On April 23rd, Rep.Veasey joined the New Democrats Infrastructure Task Force Co-Chair Rep. Stacey Plaskett and Dallas Rep. Colin Allred for a meeting with North Texas business leaders to discuss solutions to repair and modernize our nation's infrastructure.
"For Democrats, every week is infrastructure week. It underscores the crossroads this country is at when it comes to the needed investments to rebuild our roads and bridges and create better mass transit systems in fast growing cities like Dallas-Fort Worth," said Rep. Veasey. "We need legislation that addresses how to modernize, restore, and rebuild our infrastructure."

"At our round table in Dallas, business leaders discussed the urgency with which we must address climate change and expand alternative transportation, including key projects like the Houston-Dallas high speed rail. These investments are the future of mass transit and federal investments are part of the equation to get there," concluded Rep. Veasey.

In building on the Coalition's work from last Congress and formulating our infrastructure priorities for this Congress, the New Democrat Coalition Infrastructure Task Force has launched a listening tour around the country. New Dem Infrastructure Task Force Co-Chair Stacey Plaskett (USVI) kicked off the tour with Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32) and Rep.Marc Veasey (TX-33) in Dallas, TX. The tour featured a series of town halls, roundtables with experts and stakeholders, and tours of critical infrastructure sites.

Reps. Stacey Plaskett and Colin Allred toured the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) airport. As one of the busiest airports in the country, it has been a leader on passenger-focused optimizations, carbon neutrality, and strategic partnerships with other entities, such as the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Federal Aviation Administration. Rep. Marc Veasey joined the Members for a roundtable with North Texas business leaders to discuss aviation and local infrastructure needs.
