Rep. Veasey Coordinates Call with Designated Metroplex Health Center Navigators

November 14, 2013

ACA Navigators share their stories on DFW healthcare enrollment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier today, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) spoke on a conference call with the community organizations designated to assist residents of the DFW region with the new Federal Insurance Marketplace in the state of Texas. Just a month into the Marketplace enrollment, the call provided an indication of how 265,000 uninsured residents in Texas' 33rd congressional district have been educated and assisted with the healthcare marketplace.

"We have a big task ahead of us," said Veasey to the DFW health navigators and certified application counselors. "With CD 33 having the highest percentage of uninsured in any Congressional District nationally, it is important that we get your story out there of how you're helping our community."

Conference Call

Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2013)-- Rep. Veasey facilitates a conference call discussion between the designated community health centers for the ACA Marketplace Exchange.

According to call participants, hundreds of residents in the DFW-Metroplex area are calling and visiting different locations, each day, to see how they can obtain quality, affordable healthcare through the Federal Marketplace. Despite glitches with the website, residents are still reaching out to designated navigators for assistance in finding health insurance, further demonstrating the demand for these services.

The call also shed light on the need for more resources on the ground to help educate, inform, and enroll people into the Federal Marketplace. Partnerships between community organizations, hospitals, and the government are working to get people better informed of their health insurance options but it is imperative that the state of Texas needs to do more to help educate citizens instead of misleading them.

Congressman Veasey will follow-up with these organizations to ensure they have all of the federal resources they need to enroll residents in the Metroplex. Veasey's office has been working tirelessly to inform constituents of where to get help, and will continue to assist them in this process.
