Department of Education recognizes Dallas Environmental Science Academy for selective award
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Department of Education named Dallas Environmental Science Academy as one of three DFW Metroplex schools recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, which honors 342 schools for their overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups:
"I congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Dallas Environmental Science Academy for being named a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School. For the last 34 years, the Department of Education has recognized superior schools for their academic achievement, their progress in closing achievement gaps, and for demonstrating that all students can achieve high levels of success. Nominated by top education officials in Texas, Dallas Environmental Science Academy is one of 342 schools across the country recognized as a 2017 Blue Ribbon School and one of 27 such schools in Texas. The school's mission to develop the foundation of a scientific workforce that will protect and sustain our environment today and for future generations has proven to not only benefit individual students, but the future of the DFW Metroplex as well. I am proud to represent a school that has truly excelled at providing a quality education to students from a variety of backgrounds."
