Rep. Veasey Calls President Trump's Decision to Withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Agreement 'Misguided'
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) member of the House Armed Services Committee issued the following statement on the Trump administration's decision to withdraw the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action otherwise known as the Iran Deal.
"The Trump administration's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear agreement is misguided and in poor judgment.
"President Trump claims he wants to fix the Iran Deal, but has yet to offer a realistic alternative plan. No plan b has been offered. In the meantime, by abandoning the deal, Trump has left the security of our allies and the United States at risk.
"Walking away from this deal isolates our allies in this agreement and weakens our international credibility and leadership. We are sending the wrong message to the world- the U.S. cannot be trusted to honor its agreements.
"Unfortunately, Trump's rash decision threatens to undermine our ability to negotiate future multilateral deals and diplomatic efforts, whether it is with Iran or countries like North Korea."
