June 27, 2018

The NDAA FY19 bill authorizes funding for the DOD to ensure the safety and national security of the U.S. at home and abroad.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey was named by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve on the conference committee for the FY19 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that authorizes funding for the Department of Defense for the next fiscal year. With over 15 major military installations in Texas, defense and scientific research and development are key industries in Rep. Veasey's district in Fort Worth and Dallas.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be selected again to serve as a conferee of the FY19 NDAA conference committee," said Congressman Veasey. "As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I see the increased global threats our nation faces every day, and I'm committed to ensuring our men and women in uniform are fully supported with the resources they need to face the national security challenges at home and abroad. It's a critical time for bipartisan solutions that will ensure the safety of the United States and our allies."

The conference committee is made up of Republicans and Democrats selected by their parties to negotiate any differences between the House and Senate versions and develop final language for NDAA FY18. This committee is the final step for the defense policy bill before a final vote in each chamber. The bill will then be sent to the President for his signature.
