Rep. Veasey Announces $8.7 million grant for DART Green Light Rail Line System
Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, announced a $8.7 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant awarded to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for the final installment of funds toward the completion of the Green Light Rail Line System. The largest electric light rail opening the country has seen in 20 years, the $1.8 billion Green Line stretches as far southeast as Dallas' Pleasant Grove neighborhood and northwest all the way to Carrollton.
"Investing in the expansion of transportation options is critical to creating more livable communities," said Congressman Veasey. "This funding will improve the lives of Metroplex travelers and make our city, state and region an even better place to live and do business. I am proud of public partnerships like this that provide commuting options for Dallas residents and visitors as well as economic development opportunities for our state. I look forward to seeing this project move closer to completion."
