Rep. Veasey Announces $7.63 Million Grant Funding for DART
Receives U.S. Department of Transportation Low or No Emission Vehicle Deployment Grant (LoNo)
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $7.63 million to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in Dallas, Texas through the department's Low or No Emission Vehicle Deployment Program (LoNo).
"I'm proud to announce that Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has been awarded $7.63 million in grant funding from the Federal Transit Administration to purchase zero emission battery powered buses for their downtown circulator service known as the "D-Link." said Congressman Veasey.
DART has a service area of 2.3 million which spans across 13 cities in Texas, including Dallas. On average, DART services provide 128,500 bus trips per week. As the Metroplex continues to grow, so does the need for quality efficient transportation.
"This public-private partnership serves a rapidly growing and developing area of Dallas to improve transportation options between downtown Dallas and Oak Cliff. I was happy to support this clean energy project when I wrote the U.S. Department of Transportation in support of this application and I am proud that this project is continuing as planned." added Congressman Veasey.
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA) mission through the Low or No Emission Vehicle Deployment Program (LoNo) is to deploy the cleanest and most energy efficient U.S.-made transit buses across our communities.
