PHOTO RELEASE: Congressman Veasey Trains as Frito-Lay Employee
Irving, TX – As part of his September ‘Marc Means Business’ workday, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) reported for duty at the Irving Frito-Lay plant to work alongside PepsiCo employees and learn firsthand about Frito-Lay’s operations in the DFW Metroplex. During his workday, Veasey learned how to conduct “sensory evaluations” of different Frito Lay’s products, worked with supply chain leaders to package Doritos products for nationwide delivery, packed Smartfood popcorn bags for distribution across the country, and loaded pallets of Frito-Lay’s products into tractor trailers.
Frito-Lay is a globally recognized snack food brand in North America and a subsidiary of PepsiCo. The 24-hour-a-day Irving plant is the largest plant in Texas in terms of pounds produced, and ranks as Irving's 27th largest employer.
“Experiencing the hard work Frito-Lay’s employees dedicate to making one of America’s most recognizable snacks gave me a fresh perspective on the food distribution industry and emphasized the importance of the manufacturing sector to our nation’s economy.”
Congressman Veasey remains committed to strengthening the American workforce by supporting the middle class and stimulating job growth in the 33rd Congressional District. Each month, Veasey will continue to clock-in at a variety of local businesses and organizations across the Metroplex to learn about the challenges facing diverse industries and learn from business owners and employees how to improve public policy that affects their every day lives.
