ICYMI: Rep. Marc Veasey Votes to Pass Bipartisan Government Funding Legislation

Legislation secures over $13M for local projects, helps North Texas families with high cost of living, protects women’s access to reproductive care, and honors our commitments to America’s veterans

WASHINGTON –  Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) recently voted to pass the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, a package of six government funding bills focused on helping families and communities across the United States. The investments in the bill will help families with the cost of living, create and sustain good-paying jobs, and help people in need. The package also includes over $13 million in investments that Rep. Veasey secured that will directly respond to the most pressing needs in North Texas.

“I was proud to vote for a bipartisan government funding package that invests in the programs and services that people across North Texas rely on while addressing our nation’s biggest challenges,” said Rep. Veasey. “This package also contains over $13 million in Community Project Funding that I know will have a profound impact on TX-33. These investments will strengthen our communities, bolster our local infrastructure, and help create jobs with better pay for North Texans.” 

Rep. Veasey championed funding for 13 projects that will directly benefit Texas’s 33rd District residents. These include:

  • $850,000 for City of Forest Hill Activity Center
  • $1,050,000 for Community and Activity Center- Eastside YMCA
  • $850,000 for Happy Park Community Development
  • $4,116,279 for Hughes House II Public Infrastructure Improvements
  • $850,000 for Metrocrest Services New Facility
  • $850,000 for Pioneer Parkway Urban Design Upgrades
  • $1,000,000 for Southern Gateway Project
  • $500,000 for Southside Community Garden
  • $500,000 for Taste Project - Workforce Development Center
  • $850,000 for Thomas Jefferson Park Renovation Project
  • $500,000 for Trinity Metro Mobility Hub Southern Terminus
  • $1,000,000 for West Dallas Multi-Modal Bridge
  • $1,000,000 for West Dallas Multi-purpose Center Enhancements

This package includes the following funding bills: Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies; Interior, Environment, and related agencies; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; and Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.

A detailed summary of the legislation is available here. This legislation was signed into law by President Biden over the weekend. The remaining six appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024 are expected to be released in the coming days and be voted on ahead of their expiration on March 22.
