Congressman Marc Veasey to Participate in ACA Enrollment Press Conference and Canvassing Launch Hosted by OFA-TX Volunteers and Community Organizers

Dallas, TX – With the March 31 deadline to sign up for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) fast approaching, Congressman Marc Veasey is joining OFA-TX and community organizers for a press conference featuring ACA success stories of Dallas-area residents. The press conference will be followed by a neighborhood canvass as OFA volunteers ramp up efforts to ensure that every uninsured Texan has access to quality, affordable health insurance.

WHO:

U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) - Congressman Marc Veasey represents Texas Congressional District 33, which contains roughly 265,000 uninsured citizens, the highest percentage of uninsured in any Congressional District nationally. Congressman Veasey continues to work tirelessly to educate the community on its healthcare options and getting enrolled.

Jason Roberts - CD 33 resident, Cong. Veasey's State of the Union Guest, small business owner, community activist, and cancer survivor whose story demonstrates that Texans and all Americans can secure quality affordable health care under the Affordable Care Act.

Albert DeCall - ACA Partner Engagement Coordinator, Organizing for Action Texas

Angela Johnson - Unable to find healthcare for her and her husband Henry, both of whom have pre-existing conditions (Henry, a former TX university football player sustained neurological injuries throughout his years on the field) and unable to afford the $4,000/month COBRA payments after losing her job. As a result of the options offered by the healthcare exchanges, Angela and her husband now receive subsidized coverage for less than $50/month.

Lemlem Berhe - 57 year old Ethiopian immigrant woman, finally able to retire from a job that had been her only means of accessing affordable healthcare options now has coverage through the market place with a monthly payment of $119.25.
