Rep. Veasey's Statement on the Passing of Congressman Ron Dellums

"I'm very saddened to hear about the passing of former Congressman Ron Dellums, but I join in celebrating his decades of service to the Golden State and to this country.

From the City of Berkeley, to the war torn towns of Vietnam, and in the halls of Congress, Ron was a picture of patriotism, honor, decency, and had an unabated passion for the people he represented. As the first African-American chairman of the Armed Services Committee, Ron made his mark on influential foreign policy in the People's House.

He will be missed by those who knew him as a mentor, friend and colleague. My condolences are with the Dellums' loved ones and friends. His achievements for the people of California and our country will live on for generations."
