Congressman Veasey Works Behind the Scenes at Renowned Salsa Company
Fort Worth, TX – This week Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, rolled up his sleeves to learn firsthand about the work required to produce Mrs. Renfro’s staple gourmet salsas, sauces, and Texas inspired food products. During his shift, Veasey assisted the Renfro manufacturing team with a range of tasks that gave him a new perspective on how a 77 year old family-owned business continues to thrive and remain innovative within the food industry.
As part of the Renfro team for the day, Veasey labeled the company’s famous hickory smoked barbeque sauce, boxed completed salsas for distribution across the country, and “matched” bulk ingredients for the next day’s production, ensuring the proper ingredients were set aside for the correct salsa. Veasey also learned the precise science behind each of Mrs. Renfro’s signature products by meticulously measuring seasonings for different salsa recipes.

“Learning firsthand about the history behind Mrs. Renfro’s salsa increased my appreciation for the work a family must invest to take an idea and convert it into a successful business with national reach,” said Congressman Veasey. “As the conversation in Washington continues to center around how policy makers can make business ownership more attainable for the average American, I will take the lessons I learned and share it with my colleagues to ensure we are aware of how our decisions affect family run businesses like Renfro Foods.”
Congressman Veasey remains committed to strengthening the American economy by supporting the middle class and stimulating job growth in the 33rd Congressional District. Veasey will continue to clock-in at a variety of local businesses and organizations across the Metroplex as part of his continued effort to work alongside his constituents and learn firsthand about the challenges they face at home and in the workplace.
