Congressman Veasey (TX-33) Votes to Advance the FY23 NDAA
The FY23 NDAA Markup Brings Congress a Step Closer to Enacting Legislation that Keeps our Nation Safe, Meets the Needs of Servicemembers and Military Families
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) and his House Armed Services Committee (HASC) colleagues advanced out of committee H.R. 7900, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023. This package includes provisions supporting foreign relations, improving oversight of the Department of Defense, and bringing jobs to the DFW Metroplex, which Veasey authored and championed.
"This year's NDAA reflects our nation's values by making key investments in the programs, technologies, and personnel that strengthen our common defense," said Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33). "I am proud to have worked to craft and support legislation that delivers big wins for North Texas while confronting growing threats to our nation."
The bipartisan legislation includes provisions that would:
- Authorize Bell V-22 Ospreys
- Provide for a pay raise for our troops
- Support procurement of the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft
- Enhance Civilian Harm Mitigation
- Increase oversight of Privatized Military Family Housing Projects
- Provide more than $6 billion for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative to continue countering China's rising influence in the Pacific
- Continue support for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative
- Increase U.S Defense cooperation with Somaliland
- Support the ALaMO smart ammunition program
- Improve Congressional oversight on significant weapon systems sustainment
