Congressman Veasey Statement on Pentagon Review of F-35
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis ordered a cost-cutting review of the F-35 strike fighter jet:
"As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I look forward to working with Secretary Mattis on the F-35 program and am anxious to hear more about the Department's review of the program. That being said, there is no comparison between legacy 4th Generation Fighters and the F-35. It is my view that the price of the F-35 will continue to go down due to multi-year procurement contracts, allowing the government to purchase the fighter jet at a lower cost. The F-35 is vital during this time of increased global threats and is needed for the safety of our armed forces."
