Congressman Veasey’s Statement on Chairman Darrel Issa’s Code of Conduct

March 6, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement regarding House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa’s conduct during yesterday’s hearing on the Internal Revenue Service:

“During yesterday’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the “IRS: Targeting Americans for their Political Beliefs,” Chairman Darrell Issa adjourned the hearing before Congressman Elijah Cummings was provided the opportunity to make his opening statement as Ranking Member of the Committee.

Chairman Issa’s actions further demonstrate why Congress continues to face political gridlock. In his blatant disregard of Ranking Member Cummings and other members of the Committee, Chairman Issa was in breach of numerous House Rules. Chairman Issa can no longer continue to provide the American people with selective truths.

I stand with my colleagues in condemning the offensive and disrespectful manner in which Chairman Darrel Issa conducted this hearing.”
