Congressman Veasey Promotes Healthy Habits Nationwide

Designates month of May as “Health and Fitness Month”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, is devoted to ensuring that all Americans have the tools they need to lead healthier lives. That is why for the fourth year in a row, Rep. Veasey introduced H. Res 719 designating the month of May as “Health and Fitness Month,” to inspire increased physical fitness in communities nationwide and to help children and families adapt healthy choices into their everyday routines.

“It is no secret that adding at least 30 minutes of physical activity and cutting out processed foods are small changes that can improve your health and increase longevity,” said Congressman Veasey. “By hosting a variety of activities in the DFW Metroplex, I hope to foster an environment that supports and instills life-long healthy habits.”

During the month of May, Congressman Veasey will host and participate in the following FREE and family friendly events in the DFW Metroplex and in Washington, D.C. to promote health and fitness:

Saturday, May 14th

May Health & Fitness Day - Tarrant County

Congressman Veasey will host this FREE and family friendly event, with special guests Eugene McCray Seniors and Dunbar High School Drumline & Prancing Kittens, to further his legislative agenda to increase physical activity for Americans everywhere. The event will allow residents of the DFW Metroplex to participate in interactive, educational games, and FREE health screenings, and learn about ways to promote healthy living.

*FREE mammogram and cervical screenings will be available on-site through the Moncrief Cancer Institute Mobile Clinic! To participate in the FREE health screening during the fitness event, you MUST call 800-405-7739 in advance to schedule your appointment.

Congressman Veasey will host this FREE and family friendly event to further his legislative priorities of increasing physical activity and helping more Americans to sign up for coverage through the Affordable Care Act and other health programs. The event will allow residents of the DFW Metroplex to participate in interactive, educational games, and learn about ways to promote healthy living. A live DJ will get participants’ heart rates up as dance instructors lead line dancing classes and more!

*FREE blood pressure screenings will be provided by Parkland Health & Hospital System. No appointment required.
