Washington, D.C. – Members of the press are invited to join Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, and Yolonde Rocio, Gulf War Veteran and CD33 resident as they share their thoughts and strategize on how Congress can best represent America's veterans.
Yolonde Rocio is one of more than 3,000 veterans from Texas Congressional District 33 that served our nation in the Gulf War. After returning home from deployment, Yolonde found it difficult to transition to civilian life. As a result, she has made it her mission to provide community outreach for women veterans to ensure they are prepared to re-enter the workforce and assist other women veterans as a peer-to-peer counselor. In November 2014, Yolonde was a recipient of the 33rd Congressional District Congressional Veterans Commendation award.
Congressman Marc Veasey represents Texas Congressional District 33, which contains roughly 18,000 veterans, six percent of whom are women veterans. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Veasey continues to work on behalf of veterans in the district by hosting Veteran Town Halls and recognizing their service on and off the battlefield through the 33rd Congressional District Congressional Veterans Commendation (CVC) program.
Media is invited to attend the meeting. Congressman Veasey and Yolonde Rocio will be available for interviews following the event. If you would like to attend the meeting or schedule a one-on-one interview with the Congressmen, please RSVP in advance.
