Congressman Veasey Announces $22 Million Grant for Dallas County Head Start Program

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, is pleased to announce that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded more than $22 million to the Head Start of Greater Dallas Early Head Start and Head Start Program in Dallas, Texas.

"Early childhood education is one of the most important investments our country can make," said Congressman Veasey. "Programs such as Early Head Start and Head Start are critical to ensure that we level the playing field so that all our children succeed. That is why I will continue to advocate for adequately funding the Early Childhood Education programs."

Head Start of Greater Dallas operates 41 centers and has provided services for more than 91,000 children and families in Dallas County since its inception over 20 years ago. Currently, they serve 3,699 children in Head Start and 242 children in Early Head Start. The grant awarded will ensure that the organization will have qualified educators, nutritional, and health services to continue to serve those most vulnerable families in our community.
