Demands Trump Administration Stop Politicized Attacks on Critical Service and Support Congressional Package to Help USPS

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey visited the U.S. Postal Service's (USPS) Fort Worth Processing and Distribution Center to see the first hand impact of the Administration's changes on postal workers and the delivery of mail in North Texas.

"North Texans depend on the U.S. Postal Service to deliver everything from lifesaving drugs and social security checks to ballots," said Congressman Marc Veasey. "The fact that the Trump Administration is holding this critically-needed service as a political hostage is completely unacceptable and will jeopardize thelivelihoods of millions of Americans. Today's visit to my local post office underscores why my Democratic colleagues and I are urging the Administration to reverse its harmful attacks and work with Congress to pass a package that will fund this vital service and ensure that postal workers can do their jobs to the full extent."

Veasey additionally delivered a video update after his visit which you can watch here.

Today's visit is part of Congressman Veasey's week of action to protect the vital postal service. On Tuesday, Congressman Veasey led his colleagues on a letter urging Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to open an investigation into the Trump Administration's illegal attempts at voter suppression using the Postal Service. On Wednesday, he hosted a virtual listening session with United States Postal Service workers. Tomorrow, Congressman Veasey will join his colleagues to vote on Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Maloney's ‘Delivering for America Act,' which prohibits the Postal Service from implementing any changes to the operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020 and provides $25 billion in critical funding to support the Postal Service.

Additionally, Veasey joined more than 190 of his colleagues last week to call Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to ensure Americans continue to receive timely mail delivery. In May, Veasey voted for the Heroes Act, which provided $25 billion in emergency funds to help the USPS operate and protect its workers.
