Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) Statement On Passage of Bills To Lower Prescription Drug Costs, Strengthen Medicare Coverage

October 18, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) of the Energy and Commerce Committee released the following statement after joining his colleagues on the full Committee to advance crucial legislation that will improve health care coverage for all Americans by lowering prescription drug costs and strengthening Medicare for beneficiaries:

"The fact that Americans pay more for their life-saving prescription drugs than any other developed country in the world is completely unacceptable," said Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33). "The Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3) that we advanced today will make sure skyrocketing drug prices in our country are a thing of the past by empowering our government to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.

The legislation advanced will also help our nation's seniors by strengthening Medicare coverage for vision, dental, and hearing services and creating a new, out-of-pocket limit on prescription drug costs. These five bills will deliver on our promise to work for the people by comprehensively lowering the cost and improving access of health care for people across our country."
