During the tour, Congressman Veasey was provided an operational overview of the extensive work CBP has done in an effort to assist with the humanitarian crisis at our border. He also toured the U.S. border and the processing centers.

"I want to thank the men and women of the Customs and Border Patrol for their hard work in assisting with the humanitarian crisis that our nation currently faces. It is evident that the international and domestic policies that the Administration has put forth are working. Although House Republicans have adjourned for the District Work Period, it is my hope that with time to pause and reflect, they come to understand that the only way to solve the humanitarian crisis is through comprehensive immigration reform."

Beginning last year and specifically in the last few months, CBP has seen an overall increase in the apprehension of unaccompanied immigrant children from Central America at the Southwest Border, specifically in the Rio Grande Valley. Efforts by the Administration have assisted in managing the humanitarian crisis and recent reports have shown a rapid decline in the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border.
