Reps. Veasey, Jackson Lee call on Senate to confirm attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch

WASHINGTON — Reps. Marc Veasey of Forth Worth and Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston joined other Democratic members of the House of Representatives to urge the Senate to confirm attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch.
Lynch's nomination has been pending for 131 days. That's longer than for any of the seven attorney general nominees preceding her.
"In Texas we believe in justice and we believe in fairness," Veasey said. "What is going on right now with Loretta Lynch, 131 days, we think that it's very unfair."
Veasey said the confirmation is particularly important in relation to recent police shootings.
"People are really looking toward the Justice Department to give our country answers," he said. "We need our next leader of the Justice Department to get in there and get focused on community policing and other things like that so we can get things turned around and give people confidence in our system again."
