Rep. Veasey and Special Guests Engage DFW Students and Entrepreneurs
Dallas / Fort Worth, TX – On Friday, February 5, Congressman Veasey hosted Congressmen Eric Swalwell and Ruben Gallego for a day-long listening tour meeting with students and entrepreneurs of all ages to learn about the challenges DFW millennials face in their everyday lives. The Congressmen first met with over 100 Metroplex students, administrators, and professors during a morning town hall at Tarrant County College’s South Campus. Attendees shared a variety of concerns ranging from lack of support for young veterans, the effects of crippling student debt, growing frustrations with stalled immigration reform, and the state of mental health services for today’s young people.
Later in the afternoon, Congressmen Veasey, Swalwell, and Gallego joined a dozen young entrepreneurs at the Dallas Entrepreneur Center for a discussion about the challenges facing current and aspiring business owners. Attendees shared the effects that student debt had on a business owner’s ability to save and start a business and how access to credit remains difficult for young people.
“Education is the vehicle by which struggling families can move into the middle class and achieve the American Dream. Listening to the concerns of DFW students and entrepreneurs reinvigorated my commitment to ensuring that Congress proposes policies that support current and next generations of students and business owners by tackling student debt and encouraging entrepreneurship for all ages.” Veasey said.
