Congressman Veasey Works the Production Line at Rudolph Foods

March 22, 2017

Rep. Veasey will work at Rudolph Foods Company during his March ’Marc Means Business’ Work Day

Dallas, TX – On Friday, March 24, 2017, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will visit Rudolph Foods Company, where he will make their world-famous pork rinds as part of his March ‘Marc Means Business' work day. During his shift, Veasey will work on the production line and attempt to box more than 60 bags of pork rinds in just one minute, work in the quality assurance lab, and work in the staging area to prepare Rudolph Foods products for nationwide distribution.

In 1955, John Rudolph founded Rudolph Foods Company after learning about the untapped market for pork rinds. But, in 1957, when the pork industry discontinued the process of smoking the rind on bacon, the supply for all pork rind production was eliminated — and the business threatened. It was at that time that John's wife, Mary, put her home economics degree to work by developing the proprietary pork rind pellet process that Rudolph's still uses today. Still family owned, Rudolph Foods has grown to become the world's largest manufacturer of pork rinds. The Dallas facility, located in the 33rd Congressional District of Texas, is the largest packaging facility for Rudolph Foods and is capable of producing 15 million pounds of pork rinds per year.

Since March 2014, Congressman Veasey has worked at more than 35 small and large businesses across the 33rd Congressional District of Texas. The Marc Means Business constituent outreach series connects Veasey with residents at their place of employment to better understand the challenges they face in their work and daily lives.
