Congressman Veasey Renews Yearly Pledge to Health and Fitness
Dedicates the month of May to encourage all Americans to lead healthier lifestyles
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) is dedicated to making healthy living attainable for all Americans, empowering them to increase their physical activity and to improve their nutrition to lead robust lives. For the third year in a row, Congressman Veasey introduced a resolution to designate the month of May as "Health and Fitness Month."
According to the Center for Disease Control, there has been a steady increase in obesity in the United States during the past 20 years. More than one-third of U.S. adults and approximately 12.7 million children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese. Congressman Veasey's resolution aims to ensure that the country pledges to make health and fitness a priority every day, so that all Americans can live to their maximum potential.
"Two of the most important steps people of any age can take is to increase physical activity and incorporate more nutritious foods into their daily lives," said Congressman Veasey. "By committing the month of May to health and fitness, we can demonstrate that there are steps you can take right now that will make today healthier than yesterday and pave the way for healthy living tomorrow."
