Congressman Veasey Applauds New White House Initiative Promoting Renewable Energy

July 7, 2015

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Administration unveiled its new initiative Access Solar, which aims to increase access to solar energy for all Americans, in particular low- and moderate- income communities, and to build a more inclusive solar workforce:

"I applaud the Obama administration's newest initiative to promote renewable energy and create quality jobs in effort to increase American's use of solar power with the Access Solar Program. Ensuring that the U.S. has a diverse energy portfolio that contains traditional energy sources, such as oil and natural gas, and renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, is vital to our economy. I believe that all communities, including the low-income communities represented in my District, should have access to affordable and reliable energy. Solar energy plays an important role in providing the U.S. with clean and cost effective energy, while adding jobs to the economy, and most importantly helping families cut the costs on their energy bills. I stand in support of Access Solar, because I believe that the initiative will help level the playing field for all Americans, expanding solar energy in low-income communities and making energy more affordable for all regardless of socioeconomic status."
