DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX– Women in Congressional District 33 Still Earn Only 85 Cents for Every Dollar Earned by Men.
Congressman Marc Veasey announced that the nation would mark the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy signing the Equal Pay Act into law on June 10.
“When President Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act of 1963 into law, it meant that women would enter the labor force and find equality in their pay envelopes,’” Congressman Veasey stated. “However, 50 years after its enactment, we still find our nation plagued with wage disparities.”
Representing the newly created 33rd congressional district, Congressman Marc Veasey is committed to helping small businesses create jobs and to growing the local Dallas-Fort Worth economy. He has invited federal agencies to talk to Metroplex small business owners, local chambers, and other stakeholders to get them on the path to becoming certified for set-aside and sole source contracts with federal agencies.

Congressman Veasey will host a small business event at the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce on July 26, from 8:30-12:00pm. The event will feature Congressman Veasey, the SBA, procurement officers and certified small business leaders.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey spoke on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in opposition to H.R. 807, the “Full Faith and Credit Act.” Under this Republican-led “Pay China First” proposal, bondholders from China and other foreign nations would be paid first, putting payments to Americans at risk. WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey voted against H.R. 1406, the Working Families Flexibility Act. This misnamed Republican-led bill would effectively end the 40 hour work week and take away workers’ right to overtime pay by permitting employers the ability to substitute overtime pay with comp time.
DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Today, April 9, Congressman Marc Veasey said that more needs to be done to close the wage gap that still exists between women and men. According to the National Partnership for Women and Families, Dallas-Fort Worth women are paid 85 cents for every dollar paid to men in the area, amounting to a yearly gap of $7,163 between men and women who work full time.
