Congressman Marc Veasey

Representing the 33rd District of Texas

Marc's Memo - October 2016 Updates

Oct 31, 2016
Marc's Memo - E-Newsletter

Dear Friends,

This month, I was able to meet many of you and listen to your concerns during constituent outreach initiatives such as Senior Seminars in Dallas and Fort Worth, Congress on Your Corner, and my “Marc Means Business” workday. I always enjoy reconnecting with Metroplex residents, hearing about the issues they care about, and learning how their concerns can be translated to meaningful action in Congress.  When Congress returns to finish the 114th session, I’ll continue to work hard to represent Texas’ Congressional District 33 and prioritize the issues that matter most to you.

Take a second to see how I have spent the month working for you and to learn how to get covered through the 2017 Health Insurance Marketplace.

As always, I invite you to connect with me through my official websiteFacebook page, and Twitter account to stay informed on what I am working on in the district and in D.C. Don’t forget to remind your friends to subscribe to my e-newsletter, so they don’t miss out on any updates on my efforts in Washington and in the Metroplex.

Sincerely,

Marc Veasey
Member of Congress

Senior Seminar
I hosted two senior seminars in Dallas and Fort Worth to help TX-33 senior residents learn more about the different resources available to them. With representatives from the Postmaster General, Social Security Office, and Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services present, senior residents left the event with more knowledge on how to avoid common mail fraud scams, how to remain safe, how to apply for Medicare, how to ensure they receive their full Social Security benefits, and how to stay healthy and fit at any age.

Congress on Your Corner
On October 20th, I held my monthly Congress on Your Corner event at Jerry’s Supermarket in Dallas. As DFW residents were making their nightly grocery run, my staff and I were on hand to discuss current legislation and detail how my work in Washington could better serve the people of the 33rd Congressional District.  If you have any suggestions on where to hold the next Congress on Your Corner event, please give my district offices a call at 817-920-9086 or 214-741-1387.

Getting in the Halloween Spirit for 'Marc Means Business'
Going beyond the normal Halloween activities this year, I joined the Six Flags Over Texas team during Fright Fest as part of my ‘Marc Means Business’ initiative. During my time at Six Flags, I worked behind the scenes preparing the park to open for guests as a member of both the Park Services and Culinary Services teams. I ended my day as a scare-actor in The Awakening— a terrifying experience throughout the park featuring zombies, ghouls, and bloodcurdling creatures.

Each month since March 2014, I have worked at a large or small business in the 33rd Congressional District to better understand the challenges residents face in their work and daily lives.

Congressman Veasey rolls up his sleeves to prepare meals for Six Flags over Texas' Fright Fest attendees.

As part of his October 'Marc Means Business', Rep. Veasey sits patiently as he transformed into a scare actor by Six Flags' makeup team.

Do you have suggestions for my next ‘Marc Means Business’ workday? Please feel free to contact my district offices at 817-920-9086 or 214-741-1387.

Healthcare Exchange Open Enrollment Begins November 1
If you – or someone you know – needs health insurance, now’s your chance to sign up for quality and affordable coverage. Open Enrollment only happens once each year. This year’s Open Enrollment runs from November 1 through January 31. Eight out of ten people who enrolled in health coverage through HealthCare.gov qualified for financial help to make their monthly premiums more affordable. In fact, most people can find health insurance plans available for $75 or less per month. For those who already benefit from a Marketplace plan, this is your chance to shop! Insurance plans can change year-to-year, so take this time to compare your current plan and make sure it matches your current healthcare needs.

Learn about options available in your area by visiting HealthCare.gov or calling 1-800-318-2596. Don’t miss your chance to get covered.

I invite you to join me at a wide variety of events I will be hosting in the next few months. For more information on District events, please visit: www.veasey.house.gov.
