Marc’s Memo – March 2016 Updates
From working with Time Warner Cable during March’s ‘Marc Means Business’ to joining women in their fight for accessible health care at the Supreme Court, I continue to fight for a better future for all North Texas families. Please take a moment to read how I worked on behalf of TX-33 families in the DFW Metroplex and Washington, D.C.
As always, I invite you to connect with me through my official website, Facebook page, and Twitter account to stay informed on what I am working on in the district and in D.C. Don’t forget to remind your friends to subscribe to my e-newsletter, so they don’t miss out on any updates on my efforts in Washington and in the Metroplex.
Member of Congress
Joining champions for women’s rights as SCOTUS heard oral arguments for Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt
As the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt, I was proud to join the fearless advocates fighting for women’s healthcare access. Politically motivated laws do nothing to protect women’s health and instead, work to undermine women’s ability to make autonomous decisions about their reproductive futures.

Condemning House GOP's Anti-Immigrant Amicus Brief Resolution
Earlier this month, House Republicans voted on House Resolution 639, a resolution authorizing Speaker Ryan to file an anti-immigrant amicus brief on behalf of the House of Representatives in United States v. Texas, the Supreme Court case that challenges President Obama’s immigration executive actions. I addressed my House Republican colleagues to remind them that millions of immigrants already contribute so much to our country and there are many more that are ready to live without fear of deportation.

Servicing DFW Homes with Time Warner Cable
On Monday, March 28, 2016, I clocked in bright and early to join the Dallas area staff of Time Warner Cable. I learned firsthand about the telecommunications industry and assisted in cable installation services for DFW Metroplex residents. Working alongside Time Warner Cable’s technicians reinforced both the importance of technology in today’s age and the need to train the next generation to fulfill these important jobs in our community.

Continuing the battle for full participation at the ballot box
As the lead plaintiff in Veasey v. Abbott, I am disappointed that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit decided to extend the legal battle to restore full participation at the ballot box. Seven federal judges have heard the evidence and ruled that the Texas Voter ID law violates the Voting Rights Act by discriminating against minority voters. A fair and thorough hearing by the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit should reach a similar conclusion.
