Congressman Veasey Announces Inaugural Congressional Youth Advisory Council

34 students across the 33rd Congressional District to be a part of community engagement and public service

Washington, D.C. —In an effort to promote community engagement, develop student leadership and engage our youth in issues affecting the DFW Metroplex, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, announced the names of the 34 students who would participate in his inaugural Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC) for the 33rd Congressional District.

The inaugural council is made up of 34 exemplary students from 13 different schools. It brings together students with exceptional academic records and diverse extracurricular activities.

“I am proud to launch the advisory council as a way to get our future young leaders involved in community engagement,” said Congressman Veasey. “I believe these young minds will provide insight in how to address the issues they face and how they can play a critical role in driving change in Congress.

The Advisory Council will hold their first meeting on Saturday, November 12 to discuss the upcoming year, elect council leaders and organize committees. Additionally, students will participate in their first civic engagement seminar where they will discuss the importance of public service and leadership in the DFW Metroplex.
